In Colombia
We are committed to work for the implementation of the recommendations of the Dominican Justice and Peace Promoters of North American at their annual meeting in California on June 30, 2001:
To
support the Dominican family in Colombia, especially those who are in
conflict zones (through prayer) and those who try to assist the displaced
people(through financial assistance); To
oppose the involvement of the USA in the training of militaries and para-militaries
both in the US and in Colombia; To
educate, resist and lobby against US Plan Colombia and legislation that
advances the US political, economic and military control and environmental
devastation in the region; To
lobby for humanitarian aid to Colombia, the cultivation of plants proper to
the area (respecting the natural cycles) and the building up of the
infrastructure to be able to bring the products to the appropriate markets; To
join existing groups in the US that are working for peace in Colombia.
