Dominican Sisters of the Presentation A Lifetime Of Service

Our Foundress, Marie Poussepin, as a Dominican Tertiary founded our Congregation in 1696 in France - all of her writings tell us that she entrusted herself and her works to Divine Providence with humble perseverance and limitless trust. The difficulties and trials that she endured bear witness to her perseverance and trust.

The secret of her work, of her ministry was engraved on her tombstone:

"here lies the body of the humble, pious and charitable Marie Poussepin.
She prayed and kept watch assiduously and the enemy was unable to sow
discord within her house. She saw what was good in the eyes of God and did it."

 

She saw what was good in the eyes of God...

From a place within herself, she was touched and shaped by God's compassionate love and grace which empowered her to see things, persons and the needs of her time as God sees them. 

..and did it. 

This enabled her to reach out to others through her works of charity. She was able to combine this contemplative dimension of intimacy with God with her works of mercy. Her works of charity were expressed in:

• care of the sick poor
  
• education
  
• service in the parish
  
• promotion and development of people through work

 She wanted her community to bring "wherever we are sent, in whatever we do, the knowledge of Jesus Christ and his mysteries." It is this mandate that empowers us today to continue a work that began in a small town in France, called Sainville in 1696.

Today, we are united in our commitment to carry out our mission of sharing God's love through the service of charity. Our mission is strengthened by our willingness to embrace a poverty that identifies us with Jesus and liberates us to share our lives, our earthly possessions, our individual gifts and our love with others. 
Sent to a given community to live our mission in simplicity and joy, in the USA Province we can be found in the following areas:

Massachusetts,  Rhode Island, Texas, Washington, D.C. and  South Korea
